Welcome to the Buffalo & District Soccer League. Here is all the information you need to know upon entering the league. Whether you are a new or returning team, you can follow these simple instructions on how to enter your team into the BDSL for the 2017 Summer season.
All BDSL Team Applications are due by the BDSL February meeting. Along with the team applications, each team will owe a deposit ($100). If you are a new team you must also submit a team bond of $200, this bond will be refunded once your team is no longer in the league. These payments can be made via cash or check at the February meeting. The full team fees will be due by the April Meeting.
The first step to joining the BDSL is to fill out your BDSL Team Application form. You can print your application by clicking on the link here. Returning teams should fill out this form with the same info from last season, making any changes to fields/jerseys/managers as needed.
For new teams, here is a break down on how to fill out certain sections:
Division: The BDSL currently has 6 divisions of play, Premier, Championship, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Over 35. We have a promotion/relegation system in Premier thru 3rd division. Premier and Chamionship are closed to returning teams only. As BDSL has promotion and relegation, new teams must work their way up the ladder like all other sides. The highest a new team may get is 1st division. All team placement is done by the board based on availability, with returning teams getting preferred placement. Typically, new teams get placed in 2nd or 3rd division. To assist in team placement, new teams are highly encouraged to include a preliminary roster, thus allowing the board to better assess the team.
Field: Each team is expected to get their own field for their home games. The BDSL does offer some fields that you can rent directly through the league at a set cost. These include: Nichols School - Peek and Strauss Truscott Fields, West Seneca Soccer Complex, Parker's Pitch Field, D'Youville College Turf Field, and Mulroy Park Pierce Turf Field. If you wish to use one of these, please write that on your form and also notify the board. You must make sure any field is insured with the league and is safe for normal play.
Jeresys: Teams may secure any jersey(s) they wish so long as they are all numbered for play.
Promotion Eligible: Make sure to check the appropiate box here to indicate your teams status. If marked YES, then your team is eligible for playoffs. You may also be moved up a division in the following season, either by reaching the final or by board decision. If marked NO, then your team will play the regular season schedule but will not be eligible for playoffs. Your team will also not be eligible to move up a division in the following season and will stay in the same division regardless of regular season standing. All teams are eligible for relegation no matter what box is marked.
